Dehradun is one of India's most ancient cities, nestled in the Doon Valley in the foothills of the Himalayan Range, flanked on its eastern and western sides by two beautiful and mighty rivers, the Ganges and the Yamuna. It is the capital city of Uttarakhand, derives its name from the combination of two words, 'Dera' and 'Dun,' which mean "Camp in the Valley." It is also claimed that the city got its name from Mahabharata's 'Guru Dronacharya,' as the city is also known as the 'Abode of Drona'.
